Salmon La Sac Campground

This was our first attempt at camping this year and we were all pretty excited. We were meeting Lisa and Andrew too. Somehow the road to Utah is only one-way. No one ever seems to find the on ramps to head our way. LOL So the kids especially were excited to spend some time with family, a rarity in our lives having always lived out of state. We gathered gear and packed up Friday, last week and meet up at the campground. we had a fabulous evening setting up camp, building a fire, and exploring. DAY 2: we woke up and Lisa and Andrew had run into town and left their pet bunny tied up OUTSIDE their tent. Anyone else seen a possible problem with leaving a small furry animal tethered in an outdoor open area (hawks, eagles....) YA. We took care of Daisy and put her in a crate, after we caught her on a excursion to explore the campsite. PHEW! We lathered with sunscreen, played in the river, went for a hike and headed back to camp for lunch. Thenwe played in another part of the river b/c we were still so hot. At 5 -ish we headed back to camp for dinner prep, Jamie ad Andrew headed to town; we planned on dutch oven this night and forgot the lighter fluid. Within 20 minutes some pretty ominous BLACK were rolling in and we made a game plan to continue playing games in the tent until the guys returned. It started raining, then raining harder, then it was pouring sheets with thunder and lightening. After an hour and a little hail the guys returned to a private lake in our campsite, leaky tens, soggy bedding, and frustrated hungry group. there was no way we were staying since the bedding was soaked and it was still raining. We threw everything wet and muddy in the JEEPs and headed for home; 2 days early. It WAS a great campground, we were having a fabulous time. But we were only an hour and a half from home.
