we have a goal to get the house more energy efficient. Built in 1981 everything including the mechanicals have reached their life. I really do enjoy the project of remodeling, making the old new and beautiful again. Although it is terribly frustrating to have to wade through all the projects and only able to tackle them one at a time when they all seem to need to be done immediately. The pay off is when it does happen. We still a little way to go on this one. It is just roughed in. We still have to finish off the surround with stone and a mantle, then finsih coat the walls. We removed some lovely horizontal rough pine paneling on the one wall. :) But I love the new low profile; we gained about 6 feet of space removing that giant red brick monstrosity.
Sammamish is notorious for power outages and in fact the realtor warned us about this when we were buying. We weren't too sure what it was really going to be like. I mean, I lived in Africa and the power would go out all the time. didn't seem to be a problem then. HA!, it wasn't cold there! This baby will heat the whole house to a comfortable temp. Now I dare the power to go out, we are ready for ya now!

I swear I have commented on this post like 4000 times...but now I already have the answer...this is downstairs not the main floor...looks so good...I want an updated picture already. Haven't you been having someone work on it or has all the work been on the guts? so jealous.
