According to Lynette I am the Halloween Scrooge and probably well deserved. Here is the thing..... Halloween is only to be endured to get to Thanksgiving and Christmas, necessary evil of my favorite season.
1. COSTUMES: Dressing up and feeling foolish is too much for me to get over. If someone has to ask "what are you" you are a Halloween failure. so it is questionable if i have the creativity to pull it off and look fantastic or foolish, so I'd just rather not.
2.PARTIES: I am not a great socialite. I am uncomfortable anyway, and throw in the fact that I look goofy and you look goofy. UGH!,
3. CANDY; begging for candy and added to that dressing up, walking in the cold, windy, sometimes rain. Please, I don't need it. Target sells candy for way cheaper than it costs me in 5 costumes and candy to give away. I am just too practical for Halloween. sorry folks. but I am glad I am not the only party pooper because I did get LOTS of feedback from friends on Facebook that I was not alone :)
Do we celebrate Halloween with blood, guts and gore? I decided a long time ago it wasn't going to be that for me and my kids. not scary, but fun dressing up and Fall themed decor; pumpkins, bats, ghosts, witches ( i have an ancestor that was killed in a Salem witch trial) and I love WIcked! but definately no devils, why would you want to pretend to be the devil? That's my story and I am stinking to it. Kudos to all of you that find the fun in Halloween. I do enjoy looking at your creative ideas and secretly wish I had the talent, but I seriously lack it in this holiday.
BTW: Just so you know that I do not only have two favoite children, Katelyn did not dress-up. She might be taking after me. LOL
