Jamie's Birthday

Jamie's birthday weekend we had planned to go camping. However, no one was feeling up to it and we were short some equipment.  We had planned on picking up a camp stove and sleeping bags at Costco when we got back from Utah, but when we returned the summer retail season was apparently over and they didn't have any camping gear left in the store.  Plan B was to stay close to home/city...  we decided on visiting the zoo for the afternoon.  We kept it a "surprise" until we had the kids strapped in the van and we were driving across the lake.  This was after Katelyn tried to bale out of the van at a red light! (yes, seriously)  I was determined to "do" something and this was one of the ideas we could do last minute.  Savanah and Garrett warmed up on the ride over after a few rounds of $1 Bingo.  I give a $1 to the first kid to spot a purple car, then a camper/mobile home, sea plane....Katelyn made it clear she was NOT going to have a good time all the way up until we made it to the Giraffe feeding experience.  In a moment of weakness I caught her holding on to her brother. At first I thought he would protest so I was ready to step in and save my boy. We had a fun day at the zoo.  The definate highlight was feeding the giraffe. In small groups of 10 we were taken up into the giraffe enclosure to a special platform. The zookeeper gave us, one at a time,  two branches of a tree the giraffe considers a treat. She told us if we held on tight the giraffe would eat one leaf at a time and it would last longer. Let's just say it was a good thing we got two chances.  Nothing beats a safari, but it was pretty cool.  Happy Birthday Babe.

NICE...template...hey could you make the pictures bigger...that makes them easier to look at. I'm on the move for a better template though...at least an improvement on ours would be nice...maybe I'll just have to get Jamie to work on ours...lol

We aim to please. Pictures have been reposted in a larger size. Thanks for the compliment on the site. It took a little work, but everything good in life does. Keep up the effort and I'm sure your site will start looking good.

Of course Leighann fails to mention how long and slimey the tongue of a giraffe is. I didn't have any trouble making it eat one leaf at a time, but had a nice slimey hand when we were all done.
