I had to opportunity to help out on the opening program at an extended family reunion this summer. A call went out for help with music, anyone that can play instruments that could put together a small period piece from the 1860-1880's. My family and origin family, nearly all, play something. I offered or rather let it be known that we were a good source. Then I got a call from the chairperson if I could be in charge and put together a small band. "well, yes, I.....think so". I didn't get much of a response. so I made some phones calls and got some committments. Stephanie-piano, Katelyn-clarinet, Shannon-flute, Garrett-trumpet, and Roger-trombone I found a darling little piece called The Little Fairy Waltz, and got Lisa and Andrew, Moma and daddy, Jamie and Savanah to pair up and waltz. I love my family. we pulled it off and it sounded great and was lots of fun to create musice together. Thank you all for being such good sports wearing the costumes too. It was the perfect touch to our create the country dance hall look.
