Karren Mafia

Big grandaddy Jay has his own idea of fun. As a kid my family would after a long Saturday in the garden or cleaning around the house, we'd pack the cooler with things like grapes and soda. Grab a bucket of KFC and head up the canyon to find a nice secluded picinic spot where we could do some target practice with the private arsenal of rifles and pistals. It seemed like we had unlimited ammunition because we all got lots of practice shooting propped up cans or boxes.
This summer it was time to being the next generation up to speed. On our way back from the reunion at Heber Valley we stopped at Cabela's, a sporting good store, and stocked up on some ammunition. The picture only shows a few guns, but that is because we are all holding one too. Garretts favorite is the .22. and I liked to shoot the handguns. Randon't brother had a big automatic assault rifle and that sucker was LOUD even with our ear plugs, but it was sure fun to have ahold of that powerful weapon.
In once sense guns scare me. i just kept thinking as I was looking at all the kids getting so comfortable with guns that it would be so easy to have an accident. And that the consequences would be devasting. On the flip side holding that weapon makes me feel powerful, strong, and bad to the bone.

LOL @ "Big granddaddy Jay"...and "Karren Mafia"...GREAT post...you are so clever how you wrote this...It totally puts me back and helps me remember it in a whole new light...so fun. You are right about the guns too...they scare me but also somehow feel pretty dang good too. Something about being able to blow the crap out of garbage that makes you feel good.
