This will be Garrett's last year to participate in the Derby. In the years past he has just wanted to do fun cars, last years for instance we made the piece of block wood into a racing hotdog on wheels: needless to say we were pretty much running dead last. Not so much fun when all your buddies are winning. So Jamie, sanded the axles using a special drill bit, we threw the wheel in a rock tumbler and graphite for 24 hours, we sanded and painted. The morning of I sprayed a coat of clear coat on the shiny red car and it all bubbled up! YIKES!!!! Sand and repaint.......quick. Minus the clear coat this time, we added the weights and driver, and weighted in at 4 5/8 oz. Garrett was running in the middle of the pack the whole night. At least he wasn't dead last, that is all he seemed to care about. He got the Teen Dream Car Award for the night. after the official races the boys were allowed to 'fun run' their cars. Jamie fixed a tweecked wheel and raced agianst his buddy that was winning most of the races and ran neck n' neck down the track. He just knew he was just as fast........ it was just the wheel. Oh well.....
